Custom Intranet: Cox Communications Public Affairs

The Situation: Cox Communications Public Affairs division needed an upgrade to their existing intranet. They wanted to dramatically upgrade the design and solve the problem of how a large department could rapidly locate documents.
They needed a way to highlight information on the main page that could be easily rotated in and out, archived, and presented in a way in which non-technical users could manage this data. They also wished to use company photos on all main pages of their intranet, and needed a way to add, upload and remove these photos without having design or HTML skills.
Development time was critical. Public Affairs wanted this developed, tested, and implemented in under three months. They knew of WebXperts from their dealings with other departments in the Cox family.
The Solution: WebXperts created a new version of the intranet that was laid out in an intuitive and user-friendly way. Content was organized and made easier to locate for all sections. Every organization could easily access their specific area without having to search for information. Market contacts were updated and listed out according to each system in an easy to understand manner.
A sophisticated backend was also created that allowed for internal Cox employees to add and remove documents from the intranet with no special knowledge. Through this extensive backend, documents could be added to any intranet section. WebXperts also created a Photo Manager inside the backend so that representatives could add and remove their custom photos from the main page rotation structure. The backend included a specific area for only the main page, so that representatives can add information that links to either an interior document on their intranet, or an outside website.
